Busy Friday

Lots to share from the very busy Friday.  Take a look at what we were up to...

One quick and easy activity I like to do every now and then is called "Trick or Treat" (the first time we do it is on Halloween).  Two students get randomly chosen from our name box.  If they have all 5 of their class points for the week, they get to participate.  They each choose one of two boxes.  One of them contains something great (the treat), but the other one contains something not so great (the trick).  Shania and Abbey were both selected today.  The treat ($5 gift card to Sweet Frog) went to Shania while Abbey got tricked with a tissue that I hastily decorated as a ghost.  

Today was also Harvest Arts Festival Day at OTES!  We were treated with a great musical performance put on by some 8th grades at Leonard Middle School.  I was unable to get a very good picture, but they were awesome!  Later in the morning we had an amazing session about Folk Music with Jud Caswell.  He played some music, talked about the history behind some of the songs, and then worked together with the kids to write a Halloween Themed Folk Song (see the end of this post for the lyrics).

The day was wrapped up with a beautiful performance by musicians from the University of Maine!

This week's student of the week was Bella!  Bella is a real class leader who is constantly working hard and doing her best.  Great job!

The Nerds all come in pieces.

On Halloween there's ghosts and goblins

My brother is a skeleton

On our front porch there is a pumpkin

And it's candle's meltin'

Halloween it ends too early

It's always so depressing

It's cold and dark, it starts to rain

Our makeup gets so messy!
