Students of the Month
April's students of the month were Kayla and Kim from Mr. Lucas's room, and Sam and Jessie from Mr. Rand's room.
Science Night
The community celebrated a love of science at the annual Science Night held at OTES. There were so many fun and exciting science related activities, and plenty of opportunities for kids to get their hands (and feet) dirty!
Author Visit
OTES welcomed Maine author Angelli Perrow and everyone had a great time listening to her speak. Her session with the 4th grade involved talking about revision and how to use this stage of the writing process to perfect and "polish" your writing. She also talked about her love of lighthouses, which is a big theme in a lot of her books.

Augusta Field Trip Coming Up
We are so excited to be scheduling our annual 4th grade trip to the Maine State Museum and State House in Augusta. We appreciate you being understanding of the last minute date change due to the Great East Band Trip that many 4th grade students are attending. If you have not signed and sent in your child's permission slip for the Augusta trip yet, please get those in as soon as you can. More information about the trip will be given to the kids (and any parents who volunteered to chaperone) as it gets closer to the date.
